Sushma is our house cleaner Rama Didi’s daughter. The pandemic has been tough on her family. Her father lost his job, her mother did not miss a single day of work during the lockdown. She works in 4 houses and made sure she went there every single day within the permissible hours.

Sushma was in class 9 when her school classes moved online. She does not have a phone, leave alone a smart one. She would go to her friend’s house in the nearby shanty and they would attend the online classes on an unstable internet and a cracked display screen.

Sushma secured 96% in class 9 (English medium). She has just appeared for the state board class 10 exams. Her SSLC 10th-grade results were encouraging and she managed 73%. She wants to study Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science) and has secured provisional admission in Vijaya College in Bangalore.

In times like these, when our privileges stare at us in disbelief, we feel urged to champion a cause and support the education of a deserving and hardworking student.

It is with this intent that my sister Keya and I have decided to raise funds towards Sushma’s college education.
